Hello!
So I am totally guilty of wearing dark, gloomy colored clothes in the winter months. My winter wardrobe consists mainly of dark gray, black, and off white sweaters and shirts. While scavenging through the clearance racks at the mall this weekend, I choose to spice up my closet with some color…red to be specific.
Red is actually one of my favorite colors, but I only have one red sweater that I have had for several years (and I never wear). I decided to pick out items in the color red because it’s a fun, vibrant color, and a perfect color to compliment all those dark clothes in your closet. The color red also boosts your confidence and makes you feel a little more sexy (even when wearing a sweater).
Picking out a piece of red clothing can be tricky. There are many different shades of red out there and can be very unflattering depending on your complexion. If you have a fair complexion go with bluer reds and orange-reds if you have darker skin. Also, when wearing the color red stay away from red lipstick to avoid being too matchy. Instead, go with a more neutral color to your lips. When choosing shoes, again, stay with neutrals or black.
Here are some fun pieces I picked up this weekend:
Scarf: Target
- Paint your nails red. Red nail polish is classic and timeless. Here are some fun red polishes: lollipop by Essie, x rouge by Formula X, and red my lips by Sally Hansen.
- Red handbag. Another simple way to add a pop of color! Perfect with your black winter jacket. I found a cute cross body bag at Kate Spade and a red clutch from Nine West.
